(TRENTON) – Assembly members Wayne DeAngelo and Tennille McCoy, along with Senator Linda Greenstein, presented the Hamilton Fire Department with a $1 million check that will go towards the purchase of a new fire engine. This funding, which was part of the FY2026 budget, is crucial, as it will help replace aging equipment and maintain public safety standards.
“I extend my sincere congratulations to the Hamilton Fire Department,” said Assemblyman DeAngelo (D-Mercer, Middlesex). “The new fire engine is a much-needed addition that will help the people in this town and the surrounding areas remain safe and secure. Firefighting is challenging and often dangerous work and it is up to us to ensure that these brave firefighters have the necessary tools and resources they need to survive.”
Hamilton’s fire services often assist nearby municipalities, as part of a regional emergency response network. This engine would improve not only Hamilton’s preparedness but also bolster the safety of surrounding communities. Additionally, these funds would lessen the financial burden on taxpayers in Hamilton.
“In 2023, this firehouse saved my childhood home, for which I am ever grateful for. It is a privilege and an honor to provide funding to the fire department, and I look forward to continuing to support them,” said Assemblywoman McCoy (D-Mercer, Middlesex). “This was common-sense funding, because ensuring Hamilton has the necessary resources and tools make sure everyone gets home to their families is a top priority for all of us.”
“Supporting first responders so they can do their jobs more effectively is one of our most important responsibilities as public servants,” said Senator Greenstein (D-Middlesex,Mercer). “This investment will ensure that the Hamilton Fire Department can continue to save lives and property, expanding its capabilities by adding a new fire engine. Firefighters in our community put themselves at risk every day, so it is imperative that we provide them the necessary tools to meet our region's growing emergency response demands.”
