Assemblyman's office is currently collecting gently-used prom dresses to support local high schoolers

(Hamilton, NJ) - Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo today announced that his office is accepting gently worn formal or cocktail gowns for his annual Princess Prom Project initiative. Now in its 15th year, the Princess Prom Project aims to make sure young ladies do not miss out on attending their proms because the dresses are too expensive.

The Princess Prom Project, which is open to high school girls who live in the 14th Legislative District, enables the young ladies looking for their formal dress to browse through a large collection of dresses, which are provided at no cost to them.

“Attending one’s junior or senior prom is considered a rite of passage and we have a moral duty to make sure no girl misses this milestone event because she cannot afford a prom dress,” said Assemblyman DeAngelo (D-Mercer, Middlesex). “Over the past decade and a half, countless members of our community have heeded our call to action to support the young ladies by donating fantastic dresses each and every year.”

Gently worn formal or cocktail dresses can be donated at the 14th Legislative District Outreach Center. Dresses that are in good condition and previously cleaned will be accepted regardless of their size. Accessories such as purses and jewelry also are accepted to help complete the perfect prom ensemble.

Appointments to look for dresses can be made by calling the 14th Legislative District Outreach office at (609) 631-7501 or emailing at AsmDeAngelo@njleg.org. The Outreach office is located at 4621A Nottingham Way in Hamilton Township (at the Shoppes at Nottingham Pointe).

The 14th Legislative District consists of Hamilton, East Windsor, Hightstown, Robbinsville, Monroe Township, Jamesburg, Plainsboro, and Cranbury.
